Belief - Faith - Trust - Astha

Belief, Faith, Trust, Astha

These words we use several times, practically every day. Sometimes we use them randomly while at other times we use them precisely. It makes no difference at some time, but it may mean a lot of difference at other time. So in order to explain the very purpose of my writing I shall take the path of practical applications instead of falling in to the controversy of grammatical intricacies.

When a child is born, it is forced to believe that the new environment in which it has come will help it survive the challenges that are to be faced by it. The child has no knowledge of the environment around. Not that the child is crippled or insane or mentally sick. But we all know that it is due to immature development of the anatomical and physiological faculties. This may or may not be a disorder or disease. In this form the child is not in a position to have the sense of belief, faith, trust or astha. The sense of realization is very less developed in a new born, so there is no revelation of the felt need. The infant at this stage needs nutrition and security. These needs are required to be fulfilled by the parents. Let us study in terms of normal beings.

Message of Geeta

On the demand of my readers I am translating the poetry in prose.

Usually the children while going to sleep ask their grandparents or parents to tell some story before going to sleep.

Here a girl of school going age, while lying on bed in the night asked her mother to narrate the secrets of the verses of Srimad Bhagwad Geeta.

She told her mother, that her grandmother would have told her these secrets, when she was a child.

The mother said that, hidden in the verses of Geeta is the secret of creation of universe.

 There is the description of the rules that humans should follow.

The humans should obtain the knowledge of science from the intellectuals, who know their subject well.

One should be a person of action.

Your right is in action.

The results are controlled by Him.

The main and highest soul is one.

He is called Parmatma.

He is only Krishna.

We all are his fragments.

We are souls. He is body less.

We have our bodies.

Brain Food Restaurant (My Fiction) IV - Part Of IV

I pondered a while. I could get her point. She had floated the idea of a brain food restaurant. She was laying stress on creating awareness for developing the need of literature, just as we feel the necessity of other foods. She was not talking of only the urban or semi urban population, but making the good literature available to people living in remote areas even in developing and under developed countries.

                                                                                                                                                      

How are you going to achieve that?” I enquired.

“I am not alone in this task. We are a group. We shall invite individuals, societies self groups, N.G.Os. We will help them open as many restaurants as are needed. We have a big market potential. We have enough space in this building. We invite writers to come here and do their work here. We provide them the reading and writing material. They write here. We purchase their preparations.”    She told me briefly.

“I know that you are a book lover and an intellectual.”  She smiled.

 “How can you say that?” I frowned.

“Look here sir,” she turned the screen of her desktop monitor towards me. I saw the video footage of the cabin in which I handed over my books to the man in the cabin.

There are closed circuit TV cameras fitted at all important place in the building. This entire building belongs to us.

I simply smiled.

Then without giving me chance to react she cleverly started,

“you know sir! That not many people know that the great freedom movement of Gandhiji, based on the concept of achieving freedom through non- violence, was possible due to his knowledge and practice of Geeta and study of the work of great writers of that era”.

“The computers of today are getting improvement only due to feed back from the predecessors. It is not very long, when the first computer came in the market. You can well appreciate the advancements in IT industry”.

She added.

After some time I was sitting in a small but cozy air conditioned room. In front of me, on an office chair, there was sitting a beautiful, smart young lady. She was not a heavy weight, old fashioned snobbish proprietor. I stole some time to look around me in the room. Behind the seat of the lady there was a brass name plate, on which her name was embossed.

 It was Bella Biss, M.Sc. M.B.A. Ph.D. I noticed.

“Good Morning sir, I am obliged that you visited our restaurant!” The lady said.

“Good morning!” I replied rather vaguely.

“I have a complaint against you” I was in a pensive mood and in the same flow I said furiously,

 “You are deceiving people. I shall definitely sue you for this and if I am saying that, it means, I mean it,”

“Cool Down sir. If my staff has misbehaved with you, I apologize for that. I shall take action and will ensure that they do not repeat,” She gave me an assurance.

 “No, there is nothing like that. On the contrary, I should say that they are very decent and well mannered,” I controlled my anger and talked between my teeth.

“Then, please let me know sir, where are we erring?” She asked inquisitively.

“Erring? You talk of erring? You are committing crime; tell me where the restaurant is? Where is the food? Can it be called a restaurant, cuisine or Bar-Be-Que, from any angle?” I almost burst out in anger and before she could react I quelled,

“I would have never wasted my time on a book shop like this, had I known that it is a book shop cum library. In which dictionary or encyclopedia, restaurant means a book shop or a library?’”

“Who has time to read books today, in the age of electronic media? You have spoiled mine as well as my family’s Sunday. I shall sue you and see that your so called restaurant is closed. Nobody in future will dare deceive innocent people by opening such shops,” I almost shouted and felt that my body was shaking with anger.

Brain Food Restaurant (My Fiction)
I - Part Of IV

Sundays are very special days for me. On Sundays I find time for my family. I share some of the family responsibilities on this day. Moreover I read some interesting literature. In this way I get relaxed and gather more energy for the ensuing week.

Mind has a special power. If you make some changes in your daily routine, the mind gets relaxed. Thus you prepare yourself afresh for the monotonous routine activities of the next week.

On the Sunday morning I go to the market to buy the household needs for the coming week. I usually carry a cotton shoulder bag. In that bag I carry some magazines, comics, and books. I have identified a shop in the market. The shopkeeper returns those books and replaces them with other books of my choice. He charges monthly rental payment for this. On my return I buy some special breakfast for children. So my family members wait for this day eagerly. At least on Sunday we take food together and enjoy.

The previous Sunday, as usual I was walking down the street. My eyes caught the sight of a rather unusual sign board on a shop on my right hand side.

There was written,

 “Brain Food Restaurant- Cuisine- Bar-Be-Que”

I was a little astonished at the sight of this sign board. I don’t remember if it was there, when I last visited the market? Though unwantingly, but my feet got stuck up there for a while. I started reading the sign board further. Below the main name was written:

“We serve all kinds of delicious, Indian and International brain foods.”

Our Specialty: “Healthy, Hygienic, Non Spicy, Spicy, Dry & Juicy Cuisines and Bar-Be-Que”

Below it there was a note.

Note: “we don’t charge for tasting the items. Free home delivery service available anywhere in the world. We don’t have any branches.”

“All dishes are prepared by Brain food chefs of international repute.”

गीता सन्देश

तू मेरी नानी की बेटी,
कह माँ कह लेटी ही लेटी।

गीता के गीतों में क्या है?

जीवन है तो मृत्यु निशचित है,
मृत्यु है तो जन्म निशचित है,

इस बन्धन से मुक्ति मोक्ष है।
